Scouts Canada EnvironMentality / Sears Partnership

It is that time of year when Sections and Groups fundraise at local Sears locations across Canada. For the better part of ten years, Scouts Canada and Sears Canada have joined forces to promote Scouts Canada’s environmental initiatives and youth programming through in-store fundraising events. Previously known as “Eco-Scouts”, EnvironMentality is Scouts Canada’s new and improved environmental stewardship program!...

...On Saturday, April 15th and Saturday April 22nd, Sears is inviting local Groups from across Canada into their stores to set up informative booths and displays. At the same time, local Groups will have the opportunity to collect donations from Sears’ customers, which will be allocated towards environmental initiatives. Scouts should use this time as an opportunity to showcase Scouting activities and programs, promote the organization and fundraise...

Woodbadge Part 1 for Canadian Path (Online Training)

As announced through ScoutScene Vol. 5 Issue 8 on September 10, 2016, the contents for Wood Badge 1 is changed to accommodate the new Canadian Path program structure.

Wood Badge I for The Canadian Path is available on the David Huestis Learning Centre (DHLC) as of September 2nd, 2016. Wood Badge I has been fully updated with the new content that provides an introduction to facilitating Scouts Canada's program - The Canadian Path.

Some important changes are:

  • Wood Badge I is divided into seventeen sessions rather than five modules
  • Wood Badge I for the Canadian Path counts as the role specific training for Scouters volunteering with Colony, Pack, Troop, Company and Crew.
  • Sessions follow the Plan, Do, Review model
  • The course is available through “My Learning Path” – a visual and interactive way for Scouters to access training
