As a result of the changes, Council are making some accommodations for registration so that your group can still participate.

*** Council Rally is now cancelled ***

[May 4 update] Messages from Council Commissioner...
Due to unforeseen logistical challenges combined with numerous other upcoming Group / Area / Council events in the coming weeks, SWC is now unable to hold the Council Rally for this year. Youth who were invited to attend the Council Rally will still be recognized by the Council through their Areas.

SWC thanks all those who stepped up to help plan this event, and we look forward to your support for the Council Rally next year.

Start of Spring Registration 2018-19

Registration for 2018-19 starts on Tuesday, May 1!
Two-week advanced registration period will be offered to existing member registering with the same group. Scouts Canada will be sending out spring retention message beginning May 1 - encouraging parents to register their child for 2018-19.
Starting May 15, registrations will be open to both new and returning members.

If registration is completed by June 30 - registration fee will be $200 PLUS Group Fee. Starting July 1 - it'll be $230 PLUS Group Fee

As we all know, in York Headwaters Area, we offer program with tremendous value. It is why we have a 71% youth retention with about 450-475 youths on the waitlist! It is also why we have a membership growth again this year (2017/2018) in our Area. Thank you to all groups and scouters - and let's keep up our great volunteer work for our youth.

For more details, please refer to the "2018-19 Spring Registration: Let the adventure continue" email you received from Scouts Canada.

*** Troop Challenge Camp Postponed due to impacts from ice storm ***

[April 17 update] Unfortunately, the Troop Challenge Camp scheduled for April 20-22 has now been postponed. A new date will be announced once the date is re-scheduled.

Due to the impacts resulted from the ice storm in the past weekend, we have a concern about the ice accumulation and risks for the campsite. Weather network is expecting more precipitation these few days and even if the snow melts, it’ll be wet, muddy and slippery.

*** Council Rally Postponed Due to Weather ***

[April 12 Update] Unfortunately the Council Rally scheduled for this Saturday (April 14) has been postponed due to poor weather and travel predictions. Shining Waters Council will further announce once the date is re-scheduled.
Please share with your groups, participants and parents accordingly.

A sharing of York Headwaters Area’ story with Scouting Life...

An interview between Scouting Life and Area Key 3

“The Scouters' Club is a collaboration... We don't want the Scouters to think that the Area leadership is their boss — we're their peers, and we hope that they feel comfortable coming to us for help.”     ~~ Kit Cheng, Area Commissioner (AC)

“The meetings give youth the opportunity for self-development, sharing ideas and making friends... The Canadian Path starts with the youth, so if youth go to Scouters’ Club, they bring their ideas back to their Group and potentially spark a new adventure, or influence the direction of their Group's program.”     ~~ Mandy Chung, Area Youth Commissioner (AYC)

"Scouters’ Club is a cornerstone for the engagement, teamwork and success that the Area has had so far."     ~~ Alyssa McGinnis, Area Support Manager (ASM)
